Some authors have asked about the length limits for article submissions to ITJ. This response addresses both the minimum and maximum word counts for the “article” submission type. Other submission types follow different guidelines and are subject to editorial discretion.
For online articles, there is no strict maximum word limit. However, final decisions are made at the discretion of the Associate Editor handling each submission. Authors should keep in mind that articles in ITJ typically focus on a narrow topic or idea, which can usually be addressed thoroughly in fewer than 10,000 words.
Conversely, submissions under 3,000 words may risk being too brief to offer a complete or original contribution. In general, academic research articles must present a significant and original contribution to the field. This requires meaningful engagement with existing scholarship and the use of a clear analytical method.
